Svend Andersen
This year the novelties from Mr. Andersen, one of the founding members of the AHCI years ago, are the new world time, the Poker watch, the Day and Night, and the Minute Repeater Moonphase.
There are also two interesting "erotica" automaton pieces that are characteristic of Mr. Andersen's creations. However, due to the family-friendly nature of our forum, I decide not to show them.
This is the world time, where the blue portion in the center is actually "blue gold" which I believe only Mr. Andersen uses. The reflective effect is achieved via a special kind of guilloche work.
In fact, all the blue portions that you see on his watches are made of blue gold.
Beautiful dial work, although I personally wish that the movement finishing could be a bit more elaborate...
Day and Night, featuring the same stunning blue gold dial.
The movement has a traditional layout, and the finishing is quite superb.
The Minute Repeater (unique piece) is based out of a vintage repeater movement. The dial is made with aventurine and has a nice, purplish shimmer
"The Poker Watch", based on the famous painting of dogs playing poker
from in 1906 ("A Bold Bluff" by C.M. Coolidge). The miniature enamel
painting on the dial is detailed and the colors are quite vibrant. Time is
displayed by the icons on the bottom (for example, a chip with 3 on it indicates
3'O clock)
Another set of visually striking and playful pieces by Mr. Andersen. Well done!
Yours Truly,
