POLL : Sandwich or painted
Jul 14, 2011,10:40 AM
Please state your answer in the title, this makes it easier to count
In general , what do you prefer ?
a painted dial or a sandwich ? I personally prefer them painted ... I guess every time so I don't make a difference between an Radiomir, Luminor, 1950 or even the new 372 ...It's not tha tI don't like the sadwich dial but I prefer painted. Probably if I would have 5 painted dials I would look for a sandwich if I bought a 6th Panerai

Sandwich

... gives the dial more detail. And it also feels like a feature that is very specific to the brand. Best, Rob.

but that's becuase i have a radiomir. If I had a luminor i would certainly be open to painted.... J
I prefer sandwich BUT ...
By: AnthonyTsai : July 14th, 2011-16:21
I would rather have 5 painted & 1 sandwich Panerai's rather than 5 sandwich & 1 painted. So, if I only had 1 Panerai, I would choose sandwich. But if I had a lot of Panerai's, I'd rather have a vast majority of them painted. - AT
Painted for Tritium and Sandwich for Luminova.
By: TdotBean : July 14th, 2011-17:40
I like to be able to see the huge slap of tritium when it age so painted for me but if it is modern PAM with luminova then sandwich. Since I would probably get any preV or T-dial with painted dial. That's leave me to consider sandwich dial when buying a m...
Painted: Completely unexpected voting results thus far . . .
By: Craig LA : July 14th, 2011-18:44
If I had to guess the outcome of this poll before it started, I would have guessed 80%+ would favor painted. Not only would I have been wrong, but the vote is exactly the opposite. I am genuinely surprised. FWIW, all but one of my current PAMs are painted...

Sandwich on Rads. Painted on LUminors
I agree here !
By: P@trick@Belgium : July 15th, 2011-16:32
it depends on the case and the type of Panerai (base - gmt - chrono etc ..) there's no general rule for me, it all depends the overall look for me

Sandwich, but...
By: Subco : July 15th, 2011-10:03
For me, no doubt: i actually prefer the sandwich even if it depends of the case (47, 44, Rads...) and of the era (tritium or not, aged luminova...). I find sandwichs more deep and darker. And a little more technical too! IMHO, the best matching is vintage...

So the sandwich wins by a wide margin .. I thought it would be more 50/50
Sandwich mostly
By: swjoseph : July 22nd, 2011-03:05
and my wife learned to distinguish a sandwich dial recently and wanted to get 'any' model with a simple but deep Sandwich dial.
