A long way down this chain, but can I say

that I really enjoy these POTW threads, Andrew.
Gary, it's great to learn more about what drives your collecting passion. This "revealing of the inner Purist" helps us all to see each other as people, rather than just mobile accumulators of (fine) watches.
I particularly liked your comment to Ken "My wife can spend 10 minutes with someone and learn more about them than I have picked up in 30 years of friendship" which is probably typical of men in general, and reminded me of a story told by a pal who was called to jury duty last month.
My friend was asked by the judge if he knew anyone in the courtroom - defendant, attorneys, etc.
He said "Yes, I know that guy over there (points to the defense attorney who smiles). I've played basketball with him on Thursday nights for the last 7 years. He has a great hook shot."
Judge asked "What about his family?"
"Don't know about his family, if he's married, or what. I know he drives a blue BMW."
Judge asked "Has he ever talked about his work?"
"His work? No. In fact I'm not sure what his name is ... I just call him Bud."
It's only with things like this POTW or GTGs (and Bernard's head-scratchingly-obscure theme posts) and TimeOut that we can go beyond the shallow "GaryG has a Simplicity" or "Dr. Karree No", or "G99 only buys 1964 watches".
Having spent the last 4 days in the garden trying to reclaim it from nature, I appreciate the beauty of your back yard from the hot tub. I could use a little muscle liniment right now ...
Cheers
