From my experience, all the mainstream, ground winning pieces are Lange 1 and Datographs made during Blumlein's reign.
I , humbly am thinking, that he wisely assigned all work on these and those higher, to the best guys.
Below, the others had work done, finish and assembly by juniors.
After Blumlein, it was much harder to tell, first, the guy from FIAT cars did some totally radical things which can be confirmed if you talk to old Lange admin.
Then, the new CEO also seemed, IMHO, to have rearranged the flow of work.
To a trained eye, and because I hung out at Lange for many a time before Blumlein died, I can put myself into the assembly line, in my mind.
There have been severe changes.
But Lange is a respectable force, however, it will play into a region above Patek, not by far.
Greubel who was with IWC and Lange, has the advantage I have....to be inside.
That's why I feel that GF will enter at a high level, and remain there, and possibly defend the territory for at least the lifetime of both men.
Only RM can threaten GF, and by that, only with 3 models or so.
Patek is almost gone, at least if you use a mathematical model. However, as a force of art and antiquity, Patek is extremely strong, and can challenge GF.
I will look for my Lange collection and take some pics to show you. You are right.
